The economic production lot-sizing problem with imperfect production processes and imperfect maintenance
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper deals with an integrated model for the joint determination of economic production quantity and preventive maintenance (PM) level for an imperfect process having a general deterioration distribution with increasing hazard rate. The effect of PM activities on the deterioration pattern of the process is modeled using the imperfect maintenance concept. It is assumed that, after each PM, the age of the system is reduced proportional to the PM level. A numerical example is used to illustrate the effect of PM level on the cost of nonconforming items and restoration cost due to shift to the out-of-control state. It is found that performing PM will yield reductions in quality related costs. It is more economical to perform PM when the extra PM cost is compensated for by the reduction in quality related costs. r 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Optimal Manufacturer-Retailer Policies in a Supply Chain with Defective Product and Price Dependent Demand
This study deals with a two-level supply chain consisting of one manufacturer and one retailer. We consider an integrated production inventory system where the manufacturer processes raw materials in order to deliver finished product with imperfect quality to the retailer, where number of defective product has a uniform distribution. The retailer receives product and conducts a 100% inspection....
متن کاملAn integrated production and preventive maintenance planning model with imperfect maintenance in multi-state system
Production planning and maintenance are two important problems in manufacturing systems. Despite the relationship exists between these two problems due to sudden failures and production capacity occupied by maintenance activities, each of these problems planned separately and as a result program and model efficiencies reduce in the real world. The aim of integrated production and maintena...
متن کاملIntegrated production-Inventory model with price-dependent demand, imperfect quality, and investment in quality and inspection
In practice, manufacturing systems are never perfect and may have low quality outputs. Therefore, different decisions such as reprocessing, sale at lower prices or diminishing are made according to industry and market. This paper investigates the importance of supply chain coordination through developing two models in centralized decision-making for an imperfect quality manufacturing system wit...
متن کاملOptimal lot size of EPQ model considering imperfect and defective products
The economic production quantity (EPQ) is a commonly used inventory model. An assumption in the EPQ model is that all units produced are perfect. Some researchers have studied the effects after relaxing this assumption on the inventory models. The objective of this paper is to determine the economic production quantity with reduced pricing, rework and reject situations in a single-stage system ...

This research is derived an integrated model of economic production quantity, inspection and preventive maintenance to incorporate rework, minimal repair and inspection time for an imperfect production system. Some proportions of non-conforming items are assumed scrap before the rework process start and others are reworked. The rework process is imperfect that is a proportion of the reworked it...
